Cloud Services

Cloud Services is a very broad term to describe a service or technology delivered to you via the Internet.

Are Cloud Services right for your business? Absolutely. They provide access to advanced technology at a fraction of what it would cost you to develop and maintain on your own. Are all Cloud Services right for your business? Absolutely Not.

We will partner with you to define the business need first, and the solution second.

Cloud Services:

Email:

Ubiquitous and a no brainer. Managing your own Email server, even for some of the largest enterprises, would be silly. But which provider is right for you? Micrsosoft’s Office365? Google’s GSuite? Or a boutique provider like AppRiver or Intermedia?

Cybersecurity:

Most Cybersecurity threats originate on the Internet. Protect your network by utilizing Cloud Based Cybersecurity vendors that will sanitize your email, validate web links, and block access to malicious websites.

Data Backup / Disaster Recovery:

The backup option you choose will dictate the time, effort, and in many cases, the ability, to recover in a disaster. Canaan Technology utilizes a hybrid on-premise and cloud based Bare Metal (Image Based) Data Backup/Disaster Recovery strategy.
A bare metal backup makes a replica of the device being backed up. All data, the operating system, configuration, and settings are included in the backup. Individual files, or the entire system, can be restored. In the event of a disaster, it is not necessary to first install and configure the operating system, which drastically reduces downtime.
Data is backed up to both an onsite storage device, as well as the Cloud, which ensures your data is always accessible.

Business Continuity:

Business Continuity is the ability to continue to operate in the event of a disaster. Utilizing cloud based services such as Hosted Email, Virtual Desktops and Servers, and Voice over IP, your business will be able to continue to operate in the event of a disaster.

Cloud Servers:

Cloud Servers are virtual servers hosted on the Internet. The advantage of Cloud Servers are low up front cost, no hardware to maintain, and flexibility for businesses that anticipate rapid growth or have a highly distributed work force.

Cloud Desktops (Desktop As A Service / Daas):

Cloud Desktops are a great solution for businesses that have specialized line of business applications, a highly distributed workforce, or want to support a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy. Utilizing either inexpensive “Thin Clients”, or an employee’s personal computer, the familiar Windows desktop experience, and related applications, can all be delivered securely over the internet.

Hilary Felton

Operations

Perhaps a bit of both luck and misfortune, Hilary was with David when it all started back in 2001 when he decided to start Canaan Technology. Hilary agreed “Canaan Technology” had a nice flow, designed the first company logo (long since retired), and helped find our first office space.

Over the years Hilary has quite literally done everything. Accounts receivable, accounts payable, vendor relations, technical support, desktop and network set up, and even pulling cat5 and cat6 (and we’re not talking one or two wires, we’re talking the entire job which was well over 48 cables).

Today Hilary assists our clients and team members with all things Canaan Technology.

David Felton

Founder

David founded Canaan Technology in 2001 with several guiding principles: provide clients with an exceptional experience; offer products with a proven track record; hire smart people with a passion for technology; and organically grow through referrals and partnerships. We adhere to these guiding principles today, just as we did in 2001.

David’s passion for technology began when he was in Elementary School with his first computer, an Apple II E, which he ran a Bulletin Board System (BBS) on. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Hartford, David went on to hold management level positions with the University of Hartford, Yale University, the Hamden Public Schools, and a few smaller, but just as demanding, private companies. David also taught technology for both the University of Hartford and the Hamden Public Schools.

Although downtime is rare for David, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, Coaching Little League, Yankee’s Baseball, Go Carting (gasoline powered, helmet required), and traveling.
