Keeping your computers current with the latest Security updates is critical to the overall security of your environment. However, end users have been taught to “never update” because some updates are evil. We take the end user out of equation and proactively audit your computer for missing updates, and when discovered, we push install them.

Proactive Monitoring:

We are listening to your network 24/7/365, verifying the Firewall and Antivirus/Antimalware protection is active, your computers and server are up to date, and the dozens of critical hardware components are healthy. If a problem is detected, we begin remediation steps immediately, mitigating downtime and avoiding unexpected costly downtime.

Data Backup, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity:

We provide a hybrid on-premise and cloud based Bare Metal (Image Based) Data Backup/Disaster Recovery strategy. Individual files, or the entire system, can be restored. In the event of a disaster recovery, the entire system can be restored to the state it was in before the disaster.

Standardized Hardware and Operating Systems:

We custom install the Operating System to ensure uniformity, dependability and there are no potentially unwanted applications.

An easy to reach, single point of contact by Phone or Email, we can remotely access your screen and assist you in real-time as if we were at your desk.

Layered Network Security:

We secure your network starting at it’s most vulnerable point – the Internet, and extend the security to each device your staff interacts with. At the entry point to your network, each packet of data is scanned for Viruses, Spyware, Ransomware and Malware, preventing malicious software from entering your network. The network is further secured down to each device by installing enterprise class Antivirus/Antimalware protection that is extremely difficult to disable and updates automatically with absolutely no end-user interaction.

Protection from Email Threats:

Using advanced cloud based virus scanning, spam scoring, real-time intent analysis, URL link protection, and reputation checks, every email is sanitized before it is delivered to your inbox. For emails that contain a hyperlink (a link that opens a web page or downloads a file), the link and file at the other end is verified not to be malicious.

Policy Based Antivirus/Antimalware/Antispyware Protection:

We install enterprise class Antivirus/Antimalware/Antispyware software which is centrally managed with a policy customized to ensure a high level of security and protection from tampering.

Password Policies:

We will work with you to create a password policy such as requiring complex passwords and passwords that expire, which considers both your security and business needs.

Mobile Device Lock Down and Remote Wipe:

We will require mobile devices that access your Company data to have a PIN and encryption. In the event a device is lost, we can remotely wipe it.

Cybersecurity and Phishing Awareness Training:

Educate your staff about on-going Cybersecurity threats using targeted email campaigns and web based videos.

Network Administration:

Secure WiFi:

Prior to joining Canaan Technology, Chuck was a Support Technician for a K-12 Public School District.

John Deida

John is a member of our Desktop and Network Support Team. He will often be one of the first technicians you speak with at Canaan Technology. If you stump him with something he’s not seen before, he will quickly research the issue or seek the assistance of another member of our support team, and get back to you with a solution.

Before joining Canaan Technology, John provide client-side computer support at the Geek Squad. His high level of customer service helps to maintain our commitment to providing an extraordinary level of service to our clients.

Nick is a member of our Desktop and Network Support Team and spends much of his day in the field assisting our clients with day to day computer issues, network troubleshooting, and on boarding of new clients. When he’s in the office, he’s taking calls and responding to help desk tickets.

Hilary Felton

Perhaps a bit of both luck and misfortune, Hilary was with David when it all started back in 2001 when he decided to start Canaan Technology. Hilary agreed “Canaan Technology” had a nice flow, designed the first company logo (long since retired), and helped find our first office space.

Over the years Hilary has quite literally done everything. Accounts receivable, accounts payable, vendor relations, technical support, desktop and network set up, and even pulling cat5 and cat6 (and we’re not talking one or two wires, we’re talking the entire job which was well over 48 cables).

Today Hilary assists our clients and team members with all things Canaan Technology.

David Felton

Founder
 
David founded Canaan Technology in 2001 with several guiding principles: provide clients with an exceptional experience; offer products with a proven track record; hire smart people with a passion for technology; and organically grow through referrals and partnerships. We adhere to these guiding principles today, just as we did in 2001.

David’s passion for technology began when he was in Elementary School with his first computer, an Apple II E, which he ran a Bulletin Board System (BBS) on. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Hartford, David went on to hold management level positions with the University of Hartford, Yale University, the Hamden Public Schools, and a few smaller, but just as demanding, private companies. David also taught technology for both the University of Hartford and the Hamden Public Schools.

Although downtime is rare for David, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, Coaching Little League, Yankee’s Baseball, Go Carting (gasoline powered, helmet required), and traveling.
